Declaration of ignorance

Don’t ever assume
to know me
my dark caves
where bats fly
all those happy places
where my light shines
and my garden of joy grows
Do not step on my dahlias
Do not attempt to hold my birds
you don’t know where I go
when pain drives me away
you haven’t been to my dark places
you haven’t yet earned the right
to see the shining stars of my light
Do not presume to know the me
you have not learned to be
Do not attempt to comprehend
until you have walked along
the river of my life
and walked with me hand in hand
and even when you do all that
do not assume
you truly ever understand.
