the farmer’s dog and her son

The farmer’s dog and her son
stand guard.
Born in  early spring ,
end of winter
he is now the main guard.
The farmer’s dog rolls on her back in the grass
while her son takes a short
time to assess
whether my dog is a friend
or foe,
she is first a friend
then she growls,
exposing teeth
as if saying,
you came near
but only this much,
is that clear?!
The farmer’s dog walks
along our path,
seeking some sun
and new pastures of grass,
his mother walks side by side
as my dog acts like secret service
seeking to defend and limits
contacts with her ginger pride.
The farmer’s dog leaves my growling  dog  alone,
he walks tall near his mother,
a mother and son reunion,
so rarely seen these days
animal
or human.
