You put some pain

You put some pain
a pinch of pain,
a spoon full of
melancholic regret
and stirring
you serve me my poison
and the only way
to know myself.

You
provide the thorns
and i
the roses,
and together we bury
a possibility of love.

Together,
separately,
we hide again
what pain proclaimed,
exposed,
left unexplained,
an embryo
that died without a womb,
out in a cold abandoned
field,
amongst the last flowers
summer grew
and we never
knew.
