where you are not i

where i began

smelling colors

sniffing scenes

recreating silhouettes

he was living in a land of shadow

pretending not to know,

how we used to sit side by side

taking notes

eager to please the teachers

and gain good notes;

seals flapping flippers,

smiles carressing melting

Ice cold igloos

where our teachers

grew

old and wise

and critical

of our flight.

we flew

before they knew

how,

we rose before dawn

and you

chose to stay

living at night

where not being able to see

is not just a way to avoid

me.
