Ode to Shan’Ann Waats:Flying home

Shan’Ann Waats , 4 months pregnant with son Niko, and her daughters Bella and Celeste  were  murdered by her husband , this is a photo of the illusion her family life had turned out to be as the husband she thought was loving had plotted to destroy and removed her and the children so he could start a new life with his mistress. How can we explain their murder by the smiling husband /father ? The poem attempts .

“What if he

doesn’t love me ?”

She  had asked,

begging for crumbs

but he  had turned

the table

Killing  the tiny bird

Stopping her merry songs

and killing

the baby

birds.

He,

he was a killer cat

whose intentions

were hate ,

and they,

they were birds

meant

to fly

above

towards

finally

feeling

eternal

love.

And

when

they had been

released of the pain

of not knowing

where

they had  stood

seeking shelter

from the cold night air ,

Where  nothing

could

have turned out

good.

They fell

and fell

from the nest,

When  suddenly,

out of the cold dark night

God’s hand

reached out

held them tight

in his eternal loving

light,

in a loving embrace

softly whispering

grace ,

How

She had been

on earth

Just a temporary guest,

and

since she had asked,

He had held her

and her babies

close to his  warm

eternal loving

godly breast,

And let her know

at last ,

how God

had always,

always cared

and

loved all

his beautiful

song birds

best.
